Center for Reducing Health Disparities Presents Lisbeth Melendez Rivera, Capacity Builder, Community and Human Rights Campaign Organizer and Strategist.
Lisbeth Meléndez Rivera is a 20+ year veteran of the LGBT and Labor movements. Lisbeth has extensive experience organizing and training at the intersections of sexual orientation, gender identity and culture specifically as they relate to communities of color. Lisbeth has crisscrossed the country training workers and community leaders in organizing, leadership development and community building strategies from a grassroots perspective.
Currently Lisbeth Melendez Rivera heads Unid@s/Human Rights Campaign A la Familia, The National Latin@ LGBT Human Rights Organization, The Human Rights Campaign, and NGLTF (The Task Force). As such she trains facilitators, and leads facilitated dialogues for Christian families of LGBT Latin@s across the country. In addition she currently acts as Program Director for Unid@s.
A biologist and sociologist by education it’s her calling to social justice that makes her passions flare and her days move forward. Today Lisbeth lives in Washington, DC alongside her life-partner, Lisa Weiner-Mahfuz, her godson, and their animal farm!
