Scott Conference Center
6450 Pine Street, Omaha, NE

Thursday, October 3, 2013 -
Friday, October 4, 2013

The thoracic session will address many of the issues arising in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of lung cancer. The conference will review the basics of care and proceed to more detailed concepts to include: a review of the new guidelines for managing lung nodules (identified incidentally or via routine screening), side by side histologic correlation of identified tumors, specifics related to the integration of PET scan findings, strategies for obtaining tissue adequate for diagnosis, staging and mutational analysis, options for treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy), and the role of photodynamic therapy in treating thoracic malignancies. Considerable emphasis will be placed on the current use of mutational analysis of tumors in order to select the most appropriate agents for treatment. Finally, individualizing treatment options for patients with oligometastatic disease and the use of bone specific agents will be highlighted.

The GI session will focus on educating health care providers in the changing patterns of cancer epidemiology, updates in screening options, development of new diagnostic modalities and treatment as it pertains to gastrointestinal cancer.
